Sylvia Collins was convicted of the manslaughter of 18-month-old Samantha Cavanagh.
She stabbed her three times in the neck in a park.
The child belonged to a woman that she had befriended after she had been released from prson after being convicted of attempted murder. She had befriended the childs mother by baby-sitting for her. She took Samantha Cavanagh out to the park, stopping off to buy chocolates for her and a carving knife to kill her with.
She had two previous convictions, one for cruelty after she threw her 8-year-old mongoloid child off a bridge in 1967. However, the child survived the 45 foot drink after landing in soft mud.
However, she was convicted of attempted murder in 1976 after she tried to push a 9-year-old boy out of a 13 floor window. She was imprisoned for 30 months after being convcited of murder.
